Restructuring of UZEM and New Areas of Support
Our Center, which has been responsible for coordinating distance education processes at our University since 2012, has undergone a comprehensive transformation and has been restructured as the
Distance Education, Learning and Teaching Enhancement Application and Research Center. Our new regulation entered into force following its publication in the Official Gazette No. 33082 dated December 19, 2025.
With this restructuring, our Center has adopted a broader structure aimed at enhancing the quality of learning and teaching processes. Under the new regulation, the key areas of support that will directly contribute to teaching and learning processes are outlined below:
Pedagogical and Technopedagogical Support: Providing instructional and professional development support for faculty members in effective teaching strategies, pedagogical innovations, and the use of technology.
Student Support: Developing support programs for students in areas such as academic development and achievement.
Electronic Examination Coordination: Coordinating the planning and implementation of all written and oral electronic examinations conducted in computer-based environments for both distance and face-to-face courses across the University, as well as graduate-level examinations (e.g., thesis defenses and doctoral qualifying examinations).
Open Educational Resources: Promoting the production and use of open educational resources through the University’s Open Course Platform and professionally supporting knowledge sharing.
Learning Analytics: Developing strategies to enhance student achievement through current data-driven approaches and learning analytics.
Artificial Intelligence Integration: Providing guidance and training programs on the use of artificial intelligence technologies in education, AI literacy, and the integration of AI tools into courses.
In this context, the technical coordination focus of the Center’s former structure has been integrated with a new vision of “enhancing learning and teaching.” This transformation has resulted in a more comprehensive approach to services that supports the professional development of the University’s academic staff, while also introducing a student support component.
Detailed information about the Center’s activities and the support services offered under its new structure is available on the Center’s website.
